As a result of continuous national growth, LAI Group is seeking a Mechanical Design and Detailer to join our team at our head office in Adelaide (Ferryden Park) within our Mechanical Design department. Schedule
Full-time Position
A 38-hour week (Monday – Friday + reasonable overtime)
Wage (Negotiable - Experience, knowledge, and ability will be taken into consideration)
The Position
As a Mechanical Design and Detailer, the role will be to undertake 3D and 2D modelling and design tasks for a variety of different industries. This role will also be supporting the team in implementing and problem-solving the development and innovation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Create technical drawings, manufacturing schematics, and 2D and 3D digital models of mechanical equipment designs, using measurements, specifications and additional data as required.
Accurately annotate and verify all numerical designations and specifications in technical drawings and schematics, using CAD programs and manual calculations when necessary.
Communicate with the Project Team on current and upcoming projects.
Collect initial drawings, calculations, and design ideas from engineers,



and combine all relevant data into coherent and complete initial design models for review and modification.
Ensure that the BOM aligns with the run sheet provided by the programmer.
The Candidate
The candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, with proven experience using SolidWorks skills, particularly in sheet metal fabrication. Demonstrated experience working within a small, interactive team is essential, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills. The successful candidate applies effective problem‐solving skills, and show a willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities as required.
Desired Competencies
A strong technical engineering or trade background ideally in switchroom & switchboard manufacturing
Expert skills using AutoCAD in a 2D environment.
Advanced to intermediate skills in SolidWorks is advantageous
Ability to analyse complex tasks and deliver practical solutions
