About The Role And Where You'll Be Working
We are seeking a qualified Chef to join our team at Juniper Gerdewonnem located in Kununurra, WA. Reporting to the Residential Manager and working closely with the Hospitality Services Manager, you will be responsible for delivering nutritious, high‐quality and enjoyable meals for our residents.
This role ensures all meals are prepared in line with Juniper's cyclic menus, DINE standards, and Food Safety Program.
Juniper Gerdewoonem is a small residential home featuring 35 rooms with individualised support through person-centered care approach. The facility has access to various communal areas, including multiple dining rooms, a spacious central activity room, and cozy lounge areas. The home has beautifully landscaped courtyards, gardens, and a fire pit. Gerdewoonem also collaborates with elders and local community members to foster a strong connection to culture and family.
This is a permanent full-time role working Mon - Fri (06:*******:30).
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook meals in accordance with Juniper's cyclic and seasonal menus
Ensure adherence to safe food handling, HACCP and infection control standards
Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic kitchen workplace
Monitor portion control, minimise food wastage and manage stock effectively
Order and control stock within food cost guidelines
Supervise and direct kitchen staff in line with DINE standards
Participate in customer meetings and incorporate feedback into menu planning
Ensure compliance with Aged Care Quality Standards and relevant legislation
Key Requirements
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent- essential)
Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (essential)
Experience in a commercial cooking and/or aged care catering workplace
Experience managing bulk ordering and stock control
Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and infection control standards
Understanding of dietary requirements for older people (including IDDSI standards)
Ability to manage food budgets and cost controls
Strong organisational and time management skills
Demonstrated leadership and team direction capability
