We are currently seeking an experienced
Production Manager (First Class Machinist)
to join our team in a full-time, permanent position. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a qualified tradesperson who enjoys a mix of machining, production management and mentoring others.
About the Role
This is a diverse position where you'll spend time on the tools while also overseeing the day-to-day operations of our machine shop. You'll work closely with management to ensure jobs are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
CNC turning and manual machining
CNC milling and general machining operations
Programming and operating CNC machines (Siemens and Fanuc controllers preferred)
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
Quoting machining work
Purchasing tooling and workshop consumables
Maintaining tooling and workshop equipment
Managing machining projects from start to finish
Managing production workflow, job priorities and delivery timelines
Supervising and supporting workshop staff
Maintaining quality control standards
Ensuring equipment is maintained and operating efficiently
General workshop administration and documentation
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
Trade qualification as a
First Class Machinist
Minimum
5 years' post-trade experience
Solid CNC machining experience, particularly with Siemens and Fanuc controllers
Experience with manual machining and milling
Excellent ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
The ability to work independently and lead by example
A commitment to producing high-quality work
Excellent communication and leadership skills
A positive, reliable and proactive attitude
Australian working rights
Previous experience in a workshop leadership, production management or coordination role will be highly regarded.
