About the role
We are seeking a talented
Chef/Cook
to join the team at One on La Balsa, located in Buddina, Queensland. This is a
casual position
that offers flexibility whilst contributing to our culinary excellence. As a Chef/Cook, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests by preparing high-quality dishes that reflect our restaurant's commitment to outstanding food and service. This position is integral to maintaining our reputation for excellence in the hospitality and tourism sector.
Key responsibilities
Prepare and cook dishes according to established recipes and plating standards, ensuring consistency and quality across all meals
Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen environment in compliance with food safety and health regulations
Manage food storage, stock rotation and inventory levels to minimise waste and maintain freshness
Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient meal preparation during service periods
Follow dietary requirements and special requests from guests with attention to detail
Assist in menu planning and development, contributing creative ideas to enhance our culinary offerings
Monitor food quality and presentation standards, adjusting cooking techniques as necessary
Maintain equipment in working order and report any maintenance issues promptly
What we're looking for
Proven experience working as a Chef or Cook in a professional kitchen environment
Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods and food safety practices
Ability to work efficiently under pressure whilst maintaining quality standards during peak service times
Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to multitask effectively
Relevant qualifications such as food safety and hygiene certification




Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team
Passion for culinary excellence and commitment to continuous improvement
Flexibility to adapt to casual working arrangements and varying shift schedules
Attention to detail with a focus on food presentation and guest satisfaction
