Job Description
Are you a passionate librarian who believes libraries are at the heart of learning, curiosity and community?
The Hutchins School is seeking an enthusiastic and collaborative Librarian to join our Library Team. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire reading, support student learning and partner with teachers to deliver high-quality library and information services across our Junior and Senior School libraries.
This is a permanent position, working full-time during school terms only ****** FTE).
About the role
Reporting to the Head of Library, you will play an integral role in supporting teaching and learning by developing engaging library programs, curating high-quality collections and helping students become confident and independent users of information.
This is a diverse and rewarding role where you will:
Collaborate with teachers to design and deliver learning experiences that develop students' inquiry, research, information and digital literacy skills.
Foster a whole-school culture of reading through engaging programs, literature promotion and library initiatives.
Develop and maintain contemporary physical and digital library collections that support curriculum priorities and student interests.
Manage library systems, cataloguing standards and digital resources to ensure collections remain accessible and discoverable.
Support continuous improvement through evidence-informed practice, innovation and collaboration with colleagues across the School.
About you
You are an information professional who enjoys working with young people, collaborating with educators and creating welcoming learning environments where curiosity can flourish.
You'll bring:




Qualifications in Library or Information Science and eligibility for, or membership of, ALIA.
Experience as a librarian, ideally within an educational setting.
Knowledge of contemporary information literacy, digital literacy and research practices.
Experience developing and managing library collections and information services.
Strong interpersonal, organisational and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across the School community.
A commitment to innovation, continuous improvement and supporting lifelong learning.
