As a leading global media organisation, we are renowned for our pioneering independent journalism and our award-winning digital products.We are seeking a fronts editor to join our Editorial team, to curate and present stories across Guardian Australia's website as well as for Google News and Apple News, with some additional digital editing.This role is being offered on a full-time permanent basis, working on a seven-day roster with early starts or late finishes.
This role is open to candidates based in either Sydney or Melbourne.In this role you will...Display stories on Guardian Australia's website effectively and imaginatively, in liaison with newsdesk and audience editorsUse data analysis tools to ensure optimal performance of stories on all platforms, and to develop strategies for the best use of Guardian contentSend breaking news alerts to the Guardian app, subscribers to email alerts and Apple News in liaison with newsdesk editorsMonitor live blogs for potential headline changes to complement news storiesSelect impactful images, illustrations and video in conjunction with the picture desk and the multimedia teamCommunicate with third party platforms such as Apple News to promote Guardian stories to best advantageLiaise with global Guardian teams on best practice for fronts editingMonitor internal analytics and other fronts (UK, US, EU, International) for their best pieces to present on Australia frontManage story selection for Google ShowcaseSuggest headline changes,
images or video to improve the performance of stories on the frontFulfil newsdesk editing shifts as directedYou'll bring....
