Backed by one of the world's leading renewable energy companies, VNI West will play a critical role in strengthening the national electricity grid while delivering meaningful economic and employment outcomes for regional communities across western Victoria.

As the project progresses, we are now seeking an experienced Local Industry Liaison to join the VNI West team. This role is integral to ensuring local businesses, suppliers and workers are positioned to participate in and benefit from the project.

Based in Western Victoria, with regular travel across regional centres including Hamilton, Bendigo, Ballarat and surrounding communities, this is a highly visible, relationship-driven role sitting at the intersection of industry engagement, procurement and community outcomes.

About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager - Engagement and Social Impact, the Local Industry Liaison will lead the development and delivery of local industry participation strategies across the VNI West project.

You will work closely with regional businesses, industry groups, training providers, procurement teams and government stakeholders to support local supplier readiness, workforce participation and compliance with local content requirements.

This is a hands-on role, well suited to someone with experience working in regional environments who understands how major infrastructure projects can drive long-term economic benefit when local engagement is done well.

What you'll be doingIdentifying, engaging and supporting local businesses and suppliers to participate in the VNI West projectFacilitating capability and capacity-building initiatives to help local suppliers meet procurement requirementsSupporting local workforce participation, including employment pathways,



apprenticeships and training initiativesBuilding and maintaining strong relationships with local businesses, industry groups, government agencies and community organisationsRepresenting the project at industry forums, supplier briefings, networking events and community engagement activitiesWorking closely with procurement and contracting teams to embed local content targets into supply chain decisionsCollaborating with training providers, industry associations and vocational education organisations to support upskilling initiativesPartnering with Traditional Owner engagement teams to maximise First Nations business, industry and workforce participationDeveloping and implementing local content strategies aligned with government policy and project objectivesMonitoring, reporting and improving local content performance and complianceWhat you'll bringExperience in local industry engagement, economic development, procurement or supply chain managementDemonstrated experience building strong stakeholder relationships across regional communitiesExposure to infrastructure, energy, government or major project environmentsStrong understanding of local content frameworks, supplier engagement or regional economic developmentAbility to communicate confidently with businesses, community stakeholders and senior project teamsExperience working collaboratively across procurement, stakeholder engagement and project delivery teamsA practical, community-minded and solutions-focused approachWhy join VNI West?
