Sandvik Mining | Location: Milton, BrisbaneJob Type : Full-time, PermanentAbout the OpportunityJoin Sandvik Mining as a Indirect Purchasing Category Specialist that is responsible for overseeing supplier relationships, contract renewals, and procurement activities for indirect products and services across Sandvik entities in Australia.
This role ensures continuity of supply, maximizes commercial value, and drives compliance with procurement policies and strategic initiatives.The Category Specialist acts as the key interface between Sandvik and its suppliers, supporting business requirements, process improvements, and sustainability targets.ResponsibilitiesBuild and maintain strategic supplier relationships to maximise commercial value, performance, and compliance.Lead supplier contract renewals, renegotiations, onboarding, and supplier evaluations.Negotiate commercial agreements and terms with suppliers to achieve optimal business outcomes.Develop and execute category strategies, including annual supplier reviews and performance management.Drive procurement process improvements that enhance operational efficiency and support business growth.Ensure compliance with procurement policies, supplier governance requirements, and relevant regulations.Analyse supplier performance, spend data, and market benchmarks to identify cost-saving opportunities and business insights.Partner with internal stakeholders and business leaders to deliver procurement solutions, support business cases, and achieve strategic objectives.About youYou are an experienced procurement or supply chain professional who thrives on building strong supplier partnerships and delivering commercial value.
With a proven background in supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, and category management, you can balance strategic thinking with day-to-day procurement operations.You are highly organised, commercially minded, and confident working with a wide range of stakeholders across the business.
You enjoy analysing data,



identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements, and driving initiatives that support business performance and sustainable growth.To be successful in this role, you will bring:5+ years' experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management.Strong experience managing supplier relationships, contract negotiations, and sourcing activities.Well-developed commercial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.The ability to influence and build credibility with suppliers and internal stakeholders at all levels.Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills.A proactive approach to continuous improvement, compliance, and operational excellence.ERP platforms, and reporting tools.A collaborative mindset aligned with values of customer focus, accountability, curiosity, and winning together.To be eligible for this role, you must have the right to live and work in Australia.
