Reporting to the Project Director and supported by a high-performing team, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the Project Environmental Management Plan, ensuring compliance with environmental approvals, legislative and contractual requirements, and driving continuous improvement in environmental performance.
Working closely with project teams, clients, regulators, consultants, and subcontractors, you will proactively manage environmental risks through effective monitoring, reporting, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable project delivery.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the implementation and ongoing management of the project's Environmental Management Plan.Ensure compliance with environmental approvals, licences, permits, contractual requirements, and relevant legislation.Lead environmental monitoring, inspections, audits, testing and reporting to ensure compliance and proactive risk management.Manage environmental risks, incidents, non-conformances, and corrective actions to ensure continuous improvement.Obtain and maintain required environmental approvals, including licence applications,



and early works permits.Oversee erosion and sediment control measures and drive environmental improvement initiatives across the project.Build and maintain effective relationships with regulators, clients, subcontractors, consultants, and project stakeholders to achieve environmental compliance and project objectives.Develop and deliver environmental and sustainability training to project personnel and subcontractors.Support construction teams by identifying environmental requirements and practical solutions that minimise project impacts.Maintain environmental management system certification requirements and provide regular performance reporting to project leadership.About YouRelevant tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Sustainability, or a related discipline.Extensive experience applying environmental management principles within major construction, infrastructure, or civil projects.Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, approvals, compliance management, auditing processes, and regulatory requirements.Experience managing environmental incidents, investigations, reporting, corrective actions, and external audits.Excellent communication, leadership, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence operational teams and foster a positive environmental culture.Demonstrated ability to identify, mitigate, and manage environmental and contractual risks.Proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.Experience managing relationships with regulators and other key project stakeholders.Join a project where environmental leadership is valued and where you can make a meaningful contribution to sustainable project delivery.
