Aitken College invites applications from suitably qualified teachers with leadership experience for the position of Head of Learning (Science), commencing in January ****.
The Head of Learning is responsible for implementing the College's strategic agenda to improve learning outcomes through the management of curriculum and assessment for Years 7‐12 in the learning area.
They are expected to demonstrate leadership through exemplary teaching practice, foster creativity, and contribute to the implementation of the College's strategic plan by facilitating a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and better practice.
This includes observing and providing coaching feedback to drive continuous improvement.
The Head of Learning (Science) is a fixed‐term Position of Added Responsibility (PAR) reviewed on a three‐year cycle with the possibility of extension.
The successful candidate will be offered an ongoing substantive teaching position at the College.

Aitken College is a prep‐to‐Year 12 co‐educational independent school in association with the Uniting Church located on 18 hectares in Greenvale.
Responsibilities




Manage curriculum and assessment for Years 7‐12 in the Science learning area.
Lead and develop teaching practice through exemplar teaching, coaching and facilitation of professional learning.
Implement the College's strategic plan within the science learning area, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
Robust background in science education with a successful teaching record.
Experience in curriculum management and evidence of leadership capability.
Membership of professional teaching associations and current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration required.
Valid right to work in Australia required.
