About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to lead Phoenix's GIS and data systems capability.
As Data Systems Team Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how data is managed, accessed, and used across the business.
What you'll be doing
Lead and mentor the GIS Team, including a Lead Developer, GIS Technician, and three GIS contributors embedded across the business.
Act as the key connection between the GIS Team and the wider organisation, ensuring business needs are understood and translated into practical data solutions.
Plan, prioritise, and deliver database development projects that support multiple teams and competing business requirements.
Design and develop databases and user interfaces within the QGIS environment.
Coordinate and oversee responses to database support and troubleshooting requests.
Lead the delivery of GIS-based figures and mapping outputs across the company.
Participate in and provide leadership through the Development Steering Group, helping shape the future direction of Phoenix's data systems.

The ability to engage with end users, understand their needs, and translate them into effective technical solutions.

Experience developing and maintaining database environments.
Experience with the following technologies:
Python
QGIS
PyQT
Microsoft Access
SQL
PostgreSQL
Experience producing GIS-based figures and mapping outputs would be advantageous but is not essential.
Qualifications and experience
Degree qualification (or higher) in GIS, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline
Experience designing, developing, and maintaining database environments
Leadership or people management experience will be highly regarded
Experience within the environmental sector is desirable but not essential
Permanent Australian work rights with no restrictions
