Provides expert leadership to strengthen clinical governance frameworks!
P/T 0.6 - 3 full days or 5 days during school hours.Local council role based in inner north-west of Melbourne.Reporting to the Senior Coordinator Health and Family, the Clinical Nurse Governance Lead is Council's senior clinical advisor for Maternal and Child Health and Immunisation services, including Universal and Enhanced MCH services, New Parent Groups and the Sleep and Settling Program.
The role provides expert leadership to strengthen clinical governance frameworks, professional practice, safeguarding, workforce capability and service quality across the service area.Working within the Health and Family Wellbeing leadership structure, the position leads the development, implementation and review of clinical governance systems, education programs, policies, procedures and quality improvement initiatives to support consistent, evidence-based practice and compliance with legislative, regulatory, professional and funding requirements.Your key responsibilities will include;Oversee clinical governance across MCH and Immunisation.Ensure safe, ethical, evidence-based practice compliant with legislation and standards.Lead audits, reviews, incident investigations and follow-up actions.Maintain clinical procedures, guidelines and work instructions.Identify emerging risks and provide mitigation advice.Deliver and evaluate clinical education and professional development programs.Build workforce capability through mentoring, consultation and reflective practice.Support competence, scope of practice,



supervision and mandatory training compliance.Strengthen service quality, integration, accessibility and consistency.Support compliant service delivery and initiatives improving coverage and early intervention.Provide expert clinical input into planning, redesign and improvement.Embed child safety principles across governance, education and practice.Support staff to meet Child Safe Standards and reporting obligations.Promote culturally protected, inclusive and trauma-informed practice.Maintain high-quality clinical and service data.Prepare governance reports, evaluations and briefings.Model Council values and build strong collaborative relationships.The successful candidate will have a current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1), postgraduate qualifications in Child and Family Health Nursing with eligibility to practise in Victoria and strong experience in clinical governance, quality assurance, risk management, clinical education and workforce development.
It also demands thorough knowledge of Victorian MCH and immunisation standards, legislation and service frameworks.
Candidates may hold qualifications in Health Services Management or be a Registered Nurse, Midwife or Maternal and Child Health Nurse with an accredited postgraduate MCH qualification.
