We're hiring a Databricks Tech Lead to join a forward‐thinking cloud team in Sydney.
This is a hands‐on technical leadership role focused on Azure data platform engineering, automation, security hardening and operational excellence.
You'll be the escalation point for complex Azure/Databricks issues, drive infrastructure‐as‐code standards, and mentor cross‐functional teams.What you'll doLead implementation of Azure infrastructure as code and provide strategic recommendations on advancing Azure and Databricks capabilities.Integrate and automate standardized Azure deployments using tools such as Terraform, Azure ARM templates and Azure DevOps pipelines.Act as the Level 3 escalation point for Azure/Databricks incidents, resolving faults and guiding operational run teams across the organisation.Translate business requirements into scalable data platform solutions and ensure high quality design and delivery.Maintain and manage source‐controlled documentation for design, build and deployment methods.Provide guidance and support to engineering and support teams,



including mentoring and knowledge transfer.Lead security hardening and testing activities for cloud data platforms.What we're looking forTertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and Microsoft Azure certifications.Current role as a Tech Lead (mandatory) with proven people/technical leadership.Hands‐on experience as a Data Engineer on Azure and strong Databricks experience using PySpark.Solid knowledge of Azure Data Factory, SQL and other data platform components.Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM) and up-to-date CI/CD orchestration (Azure DevOps).
Extensive DevOps experience and familiarity with public cloud best practices and industry trends.Demonstrated experience in security hardening and testing for cloud environments.Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams.Willingness to work outside standard hours and weekends as required.Location and employmentSydney, NSW - permanent, full time.Applicants must be Australian Permanent Residents or Citizens only.
