Purpose
The Research Officer is responsible for coordinating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community engagement activities, ensuring culturally safe and respectful research practices throughout all stages of the project.
This includes leading participant recruitment, facilitating yarning circles and interviews, and overseeing the collection, management, quality assurance and analysis of research data.
The role works collaboratively with community partners, researchers and stakeholders to support the successful delivery of research that improves mental health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
About you
You are curious, organised and passionate about improving health outcomes through research.
You enjoy working collaboratively and value culturally safe approaches to research.
In this role you will be responsible for:
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, Elders and other stakeholders to support collaboration and co-design
Coordinate the participants of the community consultation processes
Assist with data collection, analysis, reporting and dissemination of findings
Organise workshops, focus groups, yarning circles and community engagement sessions
Prepare reports, presentations,



briefing papers and project documentation
To be successful in this role ideally you will have:
Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures
Prior experience in engagement and stakeholder liaison or participation
Solid interpersonal communication and ability to build and maintain trusted relationships
Experience supporting research, evaluation or community development projects
Along with strong organisational and administrative skills
Hold a qualification in psychology, neuroscience, public health, social sciences, community development or indigenous studies will be needed
Have a current working with children check
Be able to travel to the Pilbara and other regions in WA
