Most people fall into financial advice.
They start in admin, hope to get noticed, and become an adviser only if an opportunity happens to open up.
We do it differently.
At Alder & Partners, the path from Associate to adviser is defined, documented and based on capability rather than time served, and it starts the day you join.
We are an independently owned, boutique wealth management firm in Nedlands, Perth.
Operating under our own AFSL, we look after high-net-worth individuals, families, family offices and not-for-profits who value the relationship as much as the result.
This Associate role is the first stage of a long-term career with us, not a stepping stone or a line on a CV, and we are looking for someone who wants to build that career here.
What you'll do
• Support our advisers across the full advice process, from plan requests and preparation to implementation and follow-up
• Prepare for and help coordinate annual client reviews
• Learn our systems and the way we look after clients, from the back office forward
• Work across the advice team, with client-facing exposure that grows as your capability develops
• Take real ownership of your work and hold it to a high, consistent standard
Where it leads
Your time as an Associate will be focused on building technical depth, gaining client exposure and developing the foundations of good advice.
From there, a clear path leads into adviser roles, where you own client relationships, build your own book and mentor others.
Indicative timeframes provide structure, but progression is not automatic or based simply on tenure.
You will move forward as your capability, judgement and readiness develop.
The rewards, including bonus participation as you progress into Adviser roles, will grow with the contribution you make.
About you
You do not need years of experience.
You do need to care about the craft, about the standard you set for your own work, and about the people around you.
• You take responsibility for what is in front of you, and you are honest about what you do not yet know
• You understand the value of building strong foundations and doing each stage of the role well
• You are looking for a place where you can settle in, develop and build a meaningful career
• You have sound judgement, initiative, and strong written and verbal communication
• You are thoughtful, curious and willing to learn
• A relevant degree or progress toward your Professional Year is well regarded, but attitude and aptitude matter more to us than a polished résumé
What we offer
• A defined, merit-based path from Associate to Adviser, with progression based on capability rather than tenure
• Support for your Professional Year and ongoing professional development
• A small, tight-knit team where you will know everyone by name from day one
• Direct exposure to high-net-worth clients and genuinely engaging, technical work
• A competitive salary, with bonus participation as you move into adviser roles
• A modern, well-located office in Nedlands
How to apply
Please submit your CV along with a short cover letter outlining your interest in the role.
To help us spot the people who have genuinely engaged with this opportunity, we ask that you begin your cover letter with the following sentence:
"I am drawn to the Associate role at Alder & Partners because..."
Then continue in your own words, telling us why this role and our firm appeal to you, and where you would like your career to go.
