Classification: Based on skils and experience

Hours per fortnight: Upto 80 hours (incuding an ADO every 4 weeks)
Employment Status: Ongoing Full Time / Part Time

As a member of the Medical Imaging team, Sonographers at Bendigo Health demonstrate extensive knowledge, experience and competence in all areas of diagnostic ultrasound.
Sonographers perform a full range of ultrasound examinations including general, small parts, breast, vascular, O&G;, paediatric and interventional procedures, to a consistently high standard using a patient focused approach.
They are a mentor to undergraduate students, ultrasound trainees and other staff.
Suitably credentialled sonographers may rotate through the general imaging department depending on staffing levels and skill requirements.
The Medical Imaging Department is a fully comprehensive 24/7 department, performing over 120,000 examinations per year to a consistently high standard using a patient focused approach.
Imaging services are provided to inpatients of the Bendigo Health and surrounding hospitals, as well as to outpatients referred from Hospital clinics, local GPs and specialists.
The department is staffed by radiologists, medical imaging technologists, sonographers, nurses and administration staff.
Imaging services provided include:
Ultrasound – 8 x Ultrasound rooms & 1 x Portable Unit
MRI - 1.5T & 3T
CT – 2 x Scanners
Digital Subtraction Angiography
Fluoroscopy
Mammography, including Contrast Enhanced Mammography
Theatre – 3 x IIs in theatre
PET & Nuclear Medicine
