Employment Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Engineer to play a senior role in delivering and supporting enterprise cloud platforms within a large scale migration program.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership across Azure, AWS and GCP environments, while contributing to a strategic cloud migration program transitioning on-premises workloads to cloud platforms.
Key duties include:
Providing senior engineering support across cloud platforms, including Azure, AWS and GCP, and offering strategic technical advice to management.
Providing expertise in technical delivery within a major cloud migration project, including risk identification, mitigation and use of vendor tooling.
Supporting DevOps practices, workload management and continuous improvement of deployment and operational processes.
Mentoring team members, contributing to staff development and providing guidance in a structured delivery environment.
Applicants will demonstrate strong experience in Microsoft Azure, cloud architecture frameworks (including Cloud Adoption Framework), Level 3 support, Windows Server administration, networking, DevOps tooling and incident/change management processes.
Experience with the Sonatype Nexus Platform suite, infrastructure as code, security frameworks such as Essential Eight, and multi-cloud environments is highly regarded.
How you can help us make a difference
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Cloud Engineer who can contribute to the successful delivery of a large-scale cloud migration program and support the ongoing evolution of secure, scalable cloud platforms.
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:
Deep technical capability in cloud engineering,
particularly across Azure (with exposure to AWS and GCP desirable), including strong understanding of cloud architecture frameworks, networking, security, and infrastructure as code.
Strong problem-solving and operational expertise, with experience in Level 3 support, incident and change management, and the ability to diagnose complex issues, manage risk, and maintain service reliability in enterprise environments.
Collaboration and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical teams and stakeholders, provide clear technical guidance, and contribute to mentoring and developing others in a structured delivery workplace.
A continuous improvement and DevOps mindset, including experience with automation, modern tooling (e.g. Azure DevOps, GitHub), and improving ways of working to enhance delivery outcomes and team efficiency.
The successful candidate will bring a proactive, detail-oriented approach, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to apply critical thinking to complex technical challenges.
A commitment to security, including familiarity with frameworks such as the Essential Eight, and a focus on delivering high-quality, well-documented solutions will be highly valued.
Eligibility
To be eligible for employment at the Attorney-General's Department applicants must be Australian citizens.
Applicants offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a police record check and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at a specified clearance level.
The successful applicant must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information.
Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.
