The City of Melville is seeking a proactive and motivated Crew Leader - Civil Assets to support the delivery of drainage maintenance programs across the City.
Reporting to the Lead Civil Maintenance, you will provide on-site leadership while undertaking a range of specialised maintenance activities, including drainage inspections, pit and gully maintenance, concrete and paving repairs, and the operation of road sweepers, drain jetting equipment and vacuum trucks.
Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will play a key role in identifying maintenance issues, promoting safe work practices, and ensuring the City's civil assets remain safe, functional and well maintained.

Key Responsibilities
Operate specialist civil maintenance plant, including road sweepers, drain jetting equipment and vacuum trucks, to support the City's drainage and infrastructure maintenance programs.
Undertake drainage maintenance activities, including pit cleaning, gully and manhole cover replacement, and visual and CCTV inspections of drainage assets.
Identify maintenance issues and proactively recommend practical solutions in consultation with the Lead Civil Maintenance.
Operate and maintain a range of plant, equipment, vehicles and power tools safely and effectively.
Carry out civil maintenance and construction works, including concrete repairs, paving, formwork, concrete placement and finishing.
Implement Basic Traffic Management requirements and maintain safe work sites for staff, contractors and the public.
Liaise professionally with internal and external stakeholders regarding maintenance activities and service delivery.
Complete daily reports and maintain accurate records to support maintenance programs and operational planning.
Promote a strong Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) culture through secure work practices, hazard identification and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Experience and Qualifications
Current C and MR Class Driver's Licence.
White Card.
Considerable practical experience operating sweepers, vacuum trucks and drain jetting equipment
Demonstrated experience in the safe operation and maintenance of plant and equipment
Demonstrated experience in drainage maintenance, inspection and repair activities, including pits,



gullies and stormwater infrastructure.
Ability to work autonomously and apply sound judgement to resolve maintenance issues in the field.
Demonstrated knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health standards.
Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Effective decision-making, problem-solving skills, time management and organisational skills.
Desired Experience and Qualifications
Basic Traffic Management Certificate.
RIIWHS202D Enter and Work in Confined Spaces and MSMWHS217 Gas Test Atmospheres.
Certificates to operate front end loader, forklift and HIAB.
First Aid Certificate.
Practical experience with in-situ and precast concrete maintenance and repairs.
Experience in training staff in the use of maintenance plant and equipment.
Experience in the development and review of procedures and work instructions.
Customer service skills.
