About the role
Altrad are seeking an experienced Inventory Optimisation Planner to join a high-performing Supply Chain team supporting large-scale industrial operations.
This role is responsible for reviewing, analysing, and optimising inventory holdings to ensure critical spare parts are available when required while reducing excess inventory and improving working capital efficiency.
Working closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Reliability, and Warehouse teams, you will play a key role in developing data-driven inventory strategies that support asset reliability and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities include:
Inventory Optimisation
Review and optimise inventory holdings, reorder points, and stocking levels across a broad range of equipment categories.
Analyse historical consumption, demand patterns, lead times, equipment criticality, and failure consequences to determine appropriate stocking strategies.
Develop recommendations that balance operational risk with inventory investment.
Generate reports and performance metrics to monitor inventory effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities.
Excess and Obsolete Inventory Management
Identify excess, slow-moving, and obsolete inventory.
Assess opportunities for redeployment, transfer, retention, or disposal.
Support inventory reduction initiatives and maintain visibility of savings opportunities.
Coordinate with warehouse and supply chain teams to ensure accurate inventory disposition processes.
Data Quality and Continuous Improvement
Identify and correct inventory master data issues.
Support material standardisation and catalogue improvement initiatives.
Maintain accurate records and reporting on inventory data improvement activities.
Contribute to ERP data quality and system improvement programs.
Stakeholder Engagement
Partner with engineering, maintenance, reliability, procurement, and warehouse personnel to validate inventory strategies.
Provide clear recommendations supported by technical and commercial analysis.
Facilitate cross-functional decision-making to achieve optimal inventory outcomes.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Minimum 5 years' experience in maintenance planning, inventory management, materials management, or supply chain roles within oil & gas, LNG, mining, heavy industry, manufacturing, or similar sectors.
Demonstrated experience in inventory optimisation, spare parts analysis, stock rationalisation, or materials planning an advantage.
Robust understanding of maintenance and reliability principles and their relationship to spare parts management.
Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, JD Edwards, Oracle, Pronto, Maximo, or similar platforms.
Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret large data sets and generate meaningful insights.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools will be highly regarded.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to influence decisions through data-driven recommendations.
