My Australian Career An established business in Greenacres South Australia is seeking for a Diesel Motor Mechanic to join its team on a full-time permanent basis!
Position Overview: The Diesel Motor Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, maintenance and repair of diesel engines and related mechanical components across our fleet of tow trucks, recovery vehicles and other heavy vehicles.
This role directly supports our 24-hour towing and roadside assistance service to customers across South Australia.

Competitive salary plus statutory superannuation Stable permanent employment Supportive team environment Career development opportunities Employee discounts (if applicable) Task & responsibilities Detecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in diesel engines and related components, including with computer-assisted diagnostic equipment Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and hydraulic winch and towing equipment for inspection and repair Repairing and replacing worn or defective parts and reassembling mechanical components to manufacturer specifications Performing scheduled preventative maintenance, including oil and filter changes, lubrication, engine tune-ups, and brake and suspension servicing Reassembling,
testing and adjusting parts and systems following repair to confirm correct performance Inspecting fleet vehicles and identifying work required to achieve and maintain roadworthiness Responding to mechanical breakdowns affecting the operational fleet, including in the field, to minimise vehicle downtime Maintaining accurate service and repair records for each vehicle Liaising with the workshop/fleet manager on parts ordering and servicing priorities Participating in an on-call/after-hours roster supporting our 24-hour operation Qualification & experience AQF Certificate III (or higher) in Automotive, Heavy Vehicle or Diesel Engine Mechanical Technology, or an equivalent recognised trade qualification (at least three years of relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications) Sound working knowledge of diesel engine systems, transmissions, braking and suspension systems, and associated electrical and hydraulic systems Ability to detect, diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults, including with computer-assisted diagnostic equipment Ability to carry out scheduled preventative maintenance and roadworthiness inspections on heavy vehicles Sound understanding of workplace health and safety practices in workshop and roadside/field repair environments Ability to work effectively under a rotating or on-call roster supporting a 24-hour operation
