The key duties of the position include:
The Role
Director Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead, manage and mentor four teams including Procurement and Contracting, Business Management, Data Initiatives and Internal Management and Governance.
Working across the Defence enterprise, including closely with Defence capability acquisition and sustainment projects, to provide timely high quality commercial, contracting and procurement advice and guidance on complex strategic and operational procurements matters in conjunction with specialist teams.
Leading the development and implementation of commercial policy and templates in consultation with various key stakeholders, to ensure compliance with the relevant legal, policy and legislative requirements.
Leading the Division's legislated procurement, contracting and financial reporting obligations, with a focus on Defence's commercial and finance information and reporting systems and data.
Providing oversight, advice and analysis on budget affordability, financial governance and compliance, performance, forecasting, risk, pressures and opportunities including utilizing specialist financial tools.
About our Team
Land Capability Division is responsible for the procurement, contracting and business management function for Army's modernising and sustained capabilities.
It provides a wide range of commercial, financial, data and internal auditing services to Army and external Defence stakeholders.




Land Commercial and Business Management provides commercial and business management support to Army's Land Programs and operational units across Australia.
This includes support to high value, highly complex procurements, commercial and financial activities.
Land Commercial and Business Management is also responsible for managing critical enablers to the Division including implementing Defence procurement and financial policies, templates, guidance, reporting, modelling, visualization and auditing.
Land Capability Division provides a great opportunity to be involved with Army Capability Modernisation and delivery and lead a highly diverse and capable team.
Our Ideal Candidate
Highly motivated and solutions focused.
Able to lead and mentor a team of integrated professionals (ADF, APS and Contractor) across multiple priorities.
Solid financial management experience, commercial acumen, and a demonstrated focus on achieving value-for-money outcomes, effective governance, and sound risk management in accordance with legislation and policy.
Able to use initiative, analyse information and apply critical thinking, to propose actions and activities that align with strategic priorities within legislative and policy constraints.
Highly adaptable, collaborative and capable of operating within a complex,



integrated stakeholder environment.
Able to confidently engage and effectively communicate with all stakeholders.
Has a sound understanding or have the ability to gain the understanding of the Commonwealth Procurement Framework, Integrity Policy and the tools required to administer and manage the framework (AusTender, ERP- SAP S/4 HANA, IBRS, MyProcurements, DUG).

Eligibility
Security Clearance:
Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at Negative Vetting Level 1.
