This role sits within the NSW Building Commission Division in the Design and Building Practitioners Integrity Unit team.
About the team
The Design and Building Practitioners Integrity Unit investigates allegations of misconduct under the Design and Building Practitioners Act **** and its associated instruments and rules.
This includes criminal matters and matters that may lead to disciplinary action.
A fantastic opportunity has arisen within the team for an experienced and motivated investigator looking to take the next step in their regulatory career.
Your day-to-day
The Senior Investigator operates within a team of investigators undertaking a range of investigation activities.
You will conduct end-to-end investigations in relation to the conduct of registered practitioners using a range of coercive powers available to you.
Investigation outcomes commonly lead to criminal prosecution or the commencement of disciplinary proceedings against a registered practitioner.
This is a technically challenging but extremely rewarding role where you will leverage your investigative skills to investigate serious misconduct in relation to class 2, 3 and 9c construction in NSW.
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate
:
Demonstrated experience conducting complex investigations.
Significant experience conducting interviews, taking statements, compiling briefs of evidence and using coercive powers.




The ability to interpret and apply legislation.
A high degree of personal and professional integrity.
A positive attitude to change and continuous improvement.
A willingness to travel as required.
A Certificate IV (Government) Investigations or a similar/equivalent qualification.
A willingness to learn and grow within a highly skilled team and contribute to strategic goals.
The following criteria are desirable but not essential
Formal qualifications in law, investigations, design, building and/or engineering; and/or
Previous experience working in law enforcement or for a large regulatory agency investigating reliable misconduct.
