The Role
The ABC is looking for a Digital Social Lead to deliver high-impact original stories, breaking News and high-quality features across digital and social platforms.
The Job
Lead breaking news and daily digital/social content for national audiences.
Provide editorial leadership in the Canberra Parliament House Bureau.
Ensure content meets ABC standards, legal requirements, and community expectations.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of digital and social producers.
Use audience data and analytics to guide editorial and distribution decisions.
Resolve editorial, legal, technical, and production issues quickly.
Work with bureau leadership on content strategy aligned to ABC News.
Produce stories that reflect Australia's diversity.
Engage outer-suburban communities to find relevant stories.

About You
You'll have:
Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience.
Strong digital news production and CMS skills.
Ability to make quick, sound editorial decisions under pressure.
Skilled in writing, sub-editing, and crafting engaging headlines.
Understanding of audience trends, analytics, engagement, and SEO.
Strong communication, teamwork, and time management skills.




Knowledge of national affairs, politics, economics, and government.
Passion for telling diverse Australian stories and building and maintaining broad community contacts.
