Royal North Shore Hospital is a principal tertiary referral hospital for Northern Sydney Local Health District providing a comprehensive range of complex services to patients from across NSW.
It has a robust and proud history in education, research and provision of high quality clinical care.
Royal North Shore Hospital provides specialty services including major trauma, severe burns, spinal cord injuries, neonatal intensive care, bone marrow transplantation, neurosurgery and interventional neuroradiology alongside acute medical, surgical, mental health, paediatric, cancer and maternity services.
The campus is also home to The Kolling – a medical research institute jointly governed with the University of Sydney

What you'll be doing




To provide a high standard of clinical care to patients under supervision, while developing expertise in the practice of General and Acute Care Medicine, whilst fulfilling the requirement of the RACP for Advanced Training in General and Acute Care Medicine.
To provide effective clinical management of patients, under appropriate supervision, including patient assessment, making treatment decisions, performing procedures and maintaining adequate medical records; and to develop expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment.
This includes supervised general medical management of patients admitted to specialist departments.

Candidates will be assessed against the Essential Requirements and Selection Criteria for this position.

Candidates invited to interview will need to bring originals of qualifications or licenses required for the position for sighting by the panel.
MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia.
Eligible for Advanced Training in General and Acute Care Medicine, RACP by successful completion of both written and clinical examinations.
Demonstrated teamwork,



time management and problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary clinical team.
Demonstrated competency in clinical skills including effective assessment, care planning, care provision, case management and management of unstable patients.
Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment using excellent clinical skills (at the required level of competency) and judgement and expertise.
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) with patients, their families, and medical and other health professional staff.
Demonstrated commitment to General Medicine Advanced Training program.
Applicants with a clear stated interest in General Medicine or Dual Training or who are already in an Advanced Trainee position in General Medicine should state this.
Demonstrated commitment to education, research and teaching.
Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases
To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy PD****_004, this includes any amendments made from time to time.
Working with Children Check
This position requires a Working with Children Check (WWCC) issued by Service NSW.
