About the Role
As a Counsellor within the Violence, Abuse and Neglect (VAN) Service, you'll provide trauma-informed crisis intervention, counselling, and case coordination for victims of domestic violence and their non-offending family members.
You'll work collaboratively with health professionals, NSW Police, and community agencies to ensure clients receive the care they need, when they need it.
Your responsibilities will include:
Delivering crisis assessment and counselling interventions.
Participating in Domestic Violence Safety Action Meetings and interagency collaboration.
Providing outreach services and hospital in-reach support.
Joining the VANS on-call roster for crisis response, including after-hours and weekends.
Maintaining accurate records and contributing to service improvement.
Being a person of female gender is a genuine occupational qualification for this position under section 31H of the Anti-discrimination Act.

What We're Looking For
An Australian recognised degree qualification in Social Work or Psychology, or a relevant health qualification and registration of Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or membership with Australian peak body eg AASW / ACA or eligibility for membership, please upload evidence.
Experience in trauma-informed counselling and crisis intervention.
Robust understanding of domestic violence and child protection frameworks.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Current NSW Driver's Licence and willingness to travel.
