Role Purpose
This aluminium welder position involves using various techniques, like MIG and TIG welding, to join aluminium parts according to specifications and blueprints. They are responsible for preparing materials, inspecting welds, maintaining equipment, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
This role often requires physical stamina, dexterity, and the ability to work in diverse environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricating mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium components, products, and structures with MIG and TIG welding.
- Cutting, grinding, and preparing aluminium materials for welding.
- Operating and maintaining welding machines and equipment, including changing parts and ensuring proper functioning.
- Inspecting welds for quality, adherence to safety regulations, and dimensional accuracy.
- Following all safety procedures and guidelines related to welding and material handling.
- Maintaining records of work performed and materials used.
- Working with other welders, fabricators, and engineers to understand project requirements and ensure successful completion.
- Moving and storing finished products as needed.
Essential Skills Needed
- Trade Certificate in Welding and/or 3+ years' experience in welding.
- Experience in fabricating a variety of components, products, or structures (not just production welding).
- Thorough understanding of aluminium properties and welding characteristics.
- Sound knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
- Physical Stamina - Ability to perform repetitive tasks and work in various positions.
- Physical Dexterity - Ability to handle tools and materials with precision.
- Supply and maintain own commercial grade tools; tool maintenance allowance included in the salary package.
- Provide own vehicle to transport themselves and their tools to site.
- Maintain current drivers license (manual preferred).

Additional Information
Valid Qualification means: Welder (First Class) - ANZSCO Skill Level 3: the occupation requires a high level of skill and expertise, typically associated with AQF Certificate III and at least two years of on-the-job training or an AQF Certificate IV.
- Manufacturing items from start to finish, including measuring, marking out, cutting, deburring, tacking together, welding, grinding, and finishing.
- Knowledge in setting welding machines for different materials and weld joints.
- Studying drawings and specifications to determine suitable material, method and sequence of operations, and machine settings.
- Fitting fabricated metal parts into products and assembling metal parts.
