About The Client
Our client operates a large-scale metallurgical coal mining complex in Queensland, producing high-quality coal for global steelmaking while prioritising safety, efficiency and sustainable operations.
About The Position
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Coordinator to support environmental management, compliance, and operational activities across a large-scale open-cut mining operation. Working closely with site teams, you will provide technical guidance, oversee environmental monitoring and reporting requirements, and ensure compliance with legislative and site obligations. This role also includes mentoring junior environmental personnel and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Support and mentor Environmental Officers and GraduatesProvide onsite environmental supervision and guidanceCoordinate environmental monitoring and reporting activitiesEnsure compliance with environmental approvals and legislationSupport environmental risk management and incident investigationsMaintain environmental records and compliance documentationProvide operational support to site stakeholdersContribute to continuous improvement initiatives and environmental performance
Skills And Experience Required
Minimum 5 years' environmental experience within mining or resourcesPrevious open-cut coal mining experience highly regardedExperience supervising personnel in a mining environmentStrong knowledge of Queensland environmental legislationUnderstanding of EPBC Act requirementsAbility to operate a light vehicle on an open-cut coal mine siteCurrent Driver's Licence (manual preferred)Current Standard 11 and Coal Board Medical, or ability to obtainStrong communication and stakeholder engagement skillsAbility to work effectively in a field-based operational setting
