Role Description
The Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence (DFSV) Worker day-to-day responsibilities include providing trauma-informed support to individuals and families affected by domestic, family, and sexual violence, including safety planning, advocacy, and referrals to appropriate services.
The worker will undertake case management activities such as assessments, care and safety planning, documentation, and follow-up, while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated support.
The role involves building solid,
culturally responsive relationships with Aboriginal families and communities, participating in community engagement activities, and supporting access to relevant programs and resources.
The position may also involve assisting with education sessions, and continuous learning to strengthen practice in DFSV and Aboriginal community support.
Qualifications and Skills
Candidates should possess robust Communication skills, including the ability to build trust, maintain qualified boundaries, and communicate sensitively with people experiencing trauma.
Candidates should possess Case Management skills, including assessment, planning, coordination of services, record-keeping, and risk management.
Relevant qualifications in social work, community services, counseling, psychology, or a related field.
Experience or interest in working with Aboriginal families and communities, with a commitment to culturally safe and inclusive practice.
Ability to manage a caseload, work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, and use digital tools.
Knowledge of local community services, referral pathways, and best-practice approaches to domestic, family, and sexual violence.
