Do you have time to take an older lady out for a coffee at the local club?
Do you love to spend time with older people? To hear their stories and share a cuppa? We are searching for friendly, engaging Volunteer Visitors that are 18 years of age or older. This position requires patience, compassion and reliability.
Volunteer Visitors are required to visit their older friend on a fortnightly basis (weekly where possible) in their own home. Sometimes visiting them at home, or enjoying an activity that you both enjoy. This can be decided on mutual interests and mobility levels. Activities may include sharing a cuppa and a chat at a local café, going for a drive, reading or heading to a local community event.
Volunteering can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help older people to feel less isolated.
Your visits will bring outstanding joy to the client you are matched with.
All volunteers are required to undergo a National Police Check (paid for by Ageing with Grace) and can expect ongoing support and training from their ACVVS Program Coordinator.
