Care Ways Community has been providing services to the community for more than 30 years through in-home care and support for the elderly, Community Centres and Youth Services.

An exciting chance exists for a Community Activities Assistant in our Community Support Team, primarily based in Koonawarra NSW.

About the role

This position reports to the Community Services Manager and is an entry-level position. This role assists in the facilitation of Care Ways community programs and contributes to the development of programs, activities, information and referral to target groups, families and general community, ensuring they are in accordance with the philosophy, objectives, mission and values of Care Ways.

This position is permanent part-time working 20 hours over multiple days per week in accordance with the program timetable for the term, the successful applicant will be provided with a roster for the term and will require flexibility from term to term to accommodate the program schedules.

The successful candidate

To be considered you must have:

- Tertiary Qualifications at Certificate level in Community Services, Youth work or mental health
- Computer literate in all MS Office suites with exceptional written and verbal skills and the ability to liaise with individuals at all levels and backgrounds
- Experience in Community Centre direct service delivery
- Demonstrated experience in data collection, program evaluation and report writing
- Commitment to Principles of social justice, accountability, and transparency and Knowledge of relevant resources in the community




- Empathetic understanding of the client target groups, including indigenous and cultural groups
- Current full drivers’ licence, reliable vehicle and current working with children’s check.

Remuneration

- Position is subject to award conditions under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 as Social and Community Employee Grade 1 ($27.55 per hour).
