MRA Search is partnering exclusively with Conyers in their search for an ambitious and talented lawyer to join its top-tier Litigation & Restructuring Group in the Cayman Islands.
The Group has extensive experience advising blue-chip clients on high stakes litigation assignments.
The Group is increasingly instructed on the highest profile cases in the Cayman Courts, with multiple appearances in the Court of Appeal and Privy Council in recent times.
Conyers is part of the offshore 'Magic Circle', with strength and depth across a variety of practice groups.
That means that the firm's litigators work on a wide range of contentious mandates involving, for example, investment funds, fiduciaries, listed companies, managers and insurers.
They assist clients around the world and work closely with onshore counsel.
What Will You Do
Advise leading clients on cross-border litigation and complex mandates, gaining direct exposure to the most sophisticated work in the offshore market
Collaborate closely with partners, counsel and senior associates who are committed to your career development, receiving hands-on mentorship and meaningful feedback
Work on novel matters in a jurisdiction at the forefront of global financial services, helping to shape legal precedent
Engage directly with clients from day one
Contribute to multi-jurisdictional matters alongside colleagues in other offices, broadening your perspective and skill set
Participate in business development initiatives, industry events, and thought leadership opportunities
Contribute to know-how, client alerts, training and business development initiatives that reinforce the firm's market-leading practice, while mentoring more junior team members.
What You'll Need
Between 5 and 6 years' relevant PQE, with prior experience in financial services litigation in a recognized practice
Admitted, or eligible to be admitted to the Cayman Islands Bar (this means candidates who are admitted in Cayman, Australia, Recent Zealand, England & Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, BVI (Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court) or Bermuda).
Robust academics
An interest in written and oral advocacy
Excellent technical and drafting skills
Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent communication skills and creative thinking
Outgoing personality with an interest in business development
