Established trawling company Trinsand Fisheries working out of Geelong seeks full time fishing crew positions. Deck Hand, Fishing Hand, Ship’s Officer, Master Fisher, Ship’s Engineer & Ship’s Master. This company maintains a drug-free workplace, employees can be subject to random drug testing which is a condition of employment. Successful candidates MUST have at least 5 years’ relevant experience (3 years for Fishing/Deckhands only) that is able to be reference checked for the position. You need to be robust as the position involves heavy lifting, working on a deck, often on heavy seas and sometimes in cramped spaces. Ranked positions may include managing fishing operations aboard your vessel in consultation with the company owners. You will be away from home for several days or weeks. Normally there is a short turnaround in port before returning to sea. Where you are required to hold a license or registration, you MUST hold the appropriate tickets, or you will not be considered. For successful candidates, a salary or percentage of the catch rate per industry standards will be negotiated according to qualifications, skills, experience,
and performance in the same or similar occupation. An annual salary for full time employees for the relevant occupation will range for Deck and Fishing Hands, $71,481 for Ships Officers, $71,481 to $80,000 for Ships Engineers $75,000 to $90,000 for a Ship’s Master. In addition to these base salaries, all occupations will be adjusted at least once a year by bonuses based on the catch which means a Ship’s Master might even earn in excess of $120,000 depending on performance and circumstances.
