About The Team

Open Space Maintenance’s role is to provide maintenance services to ensure that parks and recreational facilities are maintained to a high standard and meet agreed levels of service with the Asset Custodians via Partnering Agreements. These maintenance operations are achieved through Area Coordinators, including the planning and implementation of maintenance programs for streetscapes, parklands, sporting fields, and roadsides. We also provide professional advice to various customers on the construction and maintenance of park infrastructure, open space areas and roadsides.

About The Role

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Tree Maintenance Worker to join our arboriculture team. This is a ground-based role focused on the care and maintenance of newly planted and establishing trees. This is an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills and contribute to maintaining healthy, safe, and attractive urban landscapes.

As a Juvenile Tree Maintenance Worker, you will be responsible for the ongoing care and maintenance of newly planted and juvenile trees across parks, streetscapes, and public open spaces on the Gold Coast. Working as part of a supportive team, you'll help ensure young trees establish successfully and thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Watering newly planted and juvenile trees.Mulching and weed control around tree bases.Inspecting tree health and identifying maintenance requirements.Pruning juvenile trees to improve structure and promote healthy growth.Installing and maintaining tree stakes, ties,



and guards.Applying fertiliser and soil conditioners where required.Recording completed works using mobile devices or work management systems.Operating and maintaining hand tools and small plant equipment.Following all Workplace Health and Safety procedures.Providing a professional level of customer service when interacting with the public.

The successful applicants will be appointed at the appropriate level based on qualifications, skills and experience between Level 2 and Level 7 of the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream B) Award - Operational.

We’re Looking For People Who Have

Cert II in Horticulture / Conservation & Landcare Management / Arboriculture or related discipline, OR a minimum of 1 year industry experienceMR Class Drivers Licence (Unrestricted) (Mandatory)General Construction Induction White Card (Mandatory)A positive attitude and strong work ethicThe ability to work safely both independently and within a teamGood physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditionsExcellent communication and time management skillsA commitment to delivering high-quality workAttention to detail and pride in maintaining public assets
