Overview Of The Role

We are seeking an Occupational Nurse to join our team at Nyrstar Port Pirie. This position plays a vital role in managing onsite medical processes, including pre-employment and periodic health assessments, lead-in-blood monitoring, health surveillance programs, and adherence to workplace health and safety regulations.

Location: Port Pirie, South Australia

Contract Type: 18 months – Limited Tenure

Reports To: Health Superintendent

Key Responsibilities

In this critical hands-on role, you will:

Medical Examinations: Conduct comprehensive medical assessments for employees, including pre-employment, periodic, and post-incident assessments.Lead in Blood Monitoring: Administer and evaluate lead-in-blood testing and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for employees working in lead-exposed environments.Health Surveillance: Implement and manage health monitoring programs to mitigate workplace risks.Compliance and Documentation: Maintain accurate medical records, ensure privacy compliance, and stay updated with occupational health regulations.

About You

Education & Certifications:

Required:



Diploma of Nursing or Bachelor of Nursing.Nice to have: Relevant certifications in occupational health and safety.

Essential Skills & Experience:

Minimum 1 year of experience as an Enrolled or Registered Nurse.Strong organisational, multitasking, and prioritisation abilities.A collaborative approach with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Familiarity with workplace health and safety practices.

As part of this role, you will interact with a diverse range of stakeholders, including:

Internal operational and support teams across site.External stakeholders, such as potential new hires undergoing pre-employment medical reviews.
