About Property Services
Within the Environment and Community Services Group, the Property Services Branch is responsible for a vast array of diverse assets from iconic Heritage Listed assets such as the Empire Theatre and Toowoomba City Hall, through to libraries, aquatic centres, depots, administration and other key community buildings, work in parks on parks infrastructure, as well as contributing to the maintenance of key road infrastructure such as traffic lights and street lighting. Spanning almost 13,000km2, the team works diligently to guarantee essential community services are maintained in every corner of the region.
About the position
As an Apprentice Electrician, you will assist in performing maintenance tasks for reliability and safe operation in electrician functions of infrastructure within Council.
The successful completion of this apprentice training program will lead to a qualification as an Electrician.
In this position, you will work under direct supervision.
What we offer
- Training wage rates:
- Juniors (under 18 years) commence at a base rate of $540.59 gross per week.
- Adults commence at a base rate of $1,013.61 gross per week.
- In addition to the base rate, earn more with our Critical Worker Trade Allowance:
- Juniors - an additional $2.60 per hour.
- Adults - an additional $4.88 per hour.
- Plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.65% superannuation.
- This is a Temporary Full time position for 4 years.

What you'll bring
- Year 10 Education is mandatory.
- Year 12 Education is desirable.
- WHS Competency (White Card) for CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry, or equivalent, or a willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
- Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence is desirable.
- No experience is required.
- The motivation and ability to complete the full apprenticeship.
- Communication and teamwork skills, and the ability to follow directions.
- The ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
