As the Clinical Nurse Referrals, you will be required to deliver direct / indirect nursing care at an advanced level, within surgical referrals whilst providing support and education to other team members in Surgical Specialist Clinics.
About us:
The Referrals Team at Cairns Hospital triages referrals received for surgical outpatient specialist services at Cairns Hospital. Referrals are triaged in line with specific guidelines and processes. Liaison with General Practitioners, Specialists and Medical Staff occurs as required for prioritisation and escalation. The Referrals Team is comprised of both nursing and administrative staff.

About your opportunity:
In this position you will….
- Provide effective and efficient clinical care in the management and flow of surgical specialist referrals and work in collaboration with the Nurse Unit Manager to ensure the maintenance of secure standards in patient care.
- Effectively communicate at all levels across the organisation to promote effective team functioning.
- Demonstrates flexibility to work across all surgical specialties as required, supporting equitable service delivery and team collaboration.
- Maintain sound knowledge of relevant legislation, guidelines and standards specifically relating to nursing practice and ensure safe, appropriate application of same.
