Communications Lead

Waste is having a moment, and the Gold Coast is leading it. ARRC is looking for a natural storyteller who gets a thrill from transforming complex information into content that meets audiences where they are.

It’s a senior, hands‑on role for a communicator fuelled by purpose: keeping ARRC visible, connected, trusted and ahead of issues, and building the social licence that underpins everything we do.

About ARRC Gold Coast

Our region is running out of landfill. That's why we're creating a new way to manage waste and recover resources – diverting more than 97% of material currently sent to landfill.

Owned by the City of Gold Coast, ARRC's proposed $1.6 billion precinct is set to become one of the world’s first planned waste and energy precincts.

Progressively rolling out during the next six years, our initial focus is three integrated but distinct facilities – ARRC Organics, ARRC Recycling and ARRC Energy. The three facilities will process the waste from your green, yellow and red bins respectively. In fact, ARRC Organics in Yatala is already doing just that, turning garden waste from your green bin into nutrient‑rich compost.

ARRC is also developing a circular economy innovation park (ARRC Innovation) and community hub (ARRC Hub) as well as looking at opportunities to decarbonise the City’s vehicles through ARRC Hydrogen.

The opportunity

Suited to a former journalist or experienced corporate communications professional, the Communications Lead strengthens ARRC’s visibility, reputation and community trust across industry, media, socials, government and the broader public.

This is a senior, hands‑on role responsible for producing high‑quality communications across multiple channels – from media releases and executive speeches to social media content and community‑facing materials.

This role contributes to proactive communication that reduces risk, supports positive community relationships and prevents issues from escalating.

Working closely with the Head of Community & Reputation, this position plays a key part in maintaining calm, clarity and consistency across all communication channels.
