Due to continued growth, we are seeking a motivated Project Engineer to join our team and support the successful delivery of our civil surfacing projects across metro and regional locations. This is an excellent prospect for someone who enjoys a balance of site-based and technical work and is looking to further develop their project engineering career.
About the Role
You will play a key role in the planning, coordination, and delivery of projects from tender through to completion. You will be responsible for managing project documentation, supporting commercial functions, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
This role suits someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and confident working across both site and office environments.
Responsibilities
· Estimate and review project documentation, contracts, and specifications
· Prepare and submit progress claims and ensure accurate project reporting
· Send client QA documentation and maintain quality compliance
· Assist with quoting and preparation of variations
· Update project cost trackers, including revenue monitoring and performance analysis
· Review overall project performance and identify improvement opportunities
· Respond to Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and implement corrective actions
· Assist with project scheduling and coordination of works
· Review and update Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) to ensure compliance
· Develop detailed project scopes and issue to supervisors
· Conduct site inspections and provide on-site support to crews
· Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams
· Coordinate labour, plant, and materials to optimise project delivery
· Maintain accurate project documentation including reports, budgets, and timelines
· Support risk identification and implementation of mitigation strategies
· Ensure all works comply with safety, environmental, and quality standards
What you’ll bring
· Degree in Civil Engineering, Project Engineering, or a related field
· Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a similar project engineering role (civil or construction industry preferred)
· Strong technical understanding, including the ability to interpret drawings and specifications
· Experience with project management systems and cost tracking tools
· Sound knowledge of commercial processes including claims and variations
· Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
· Ability to problem-solve, prioritise tasks, and work under pressure
· High attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality outcomes
· Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements in construction
Qualifications & Licences
Preferred candidates will ideally have:
· Degree in Civil or Project Engineering, or a related field
· 3+ years road construction/spray seal experience
· Current Driver's Licence & White Card
· First Aid/CPR and WHS training (advantageous)
