Role overview

The purpose of a System Administrator is to act as the guardian and enabler of an organization’s technology environment. Their role goes beyond just “fixing computers”—they ensure that every part of the IT infrastructure, from servers and networks to user accounts and security systems, works seamlessly together. Key responsibilities

System Installation & Configuration

- Install, configure, and maintain servers, operating systems, and business applications.
- Set up user accounts, permissions, and access controls.

Monitoring & Maintenance

- Monitor system performance, availability, and security.

Security & Compliance

Qualifications and skills

Education:

- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline (minimum requirement).
- Industry certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), CompTIA Network+, or Cisco CCNA are highly regarded.

Experience:

- Minimum 1 year of practical experience in system administration, IT support, or network management.
