We are seeking an experienced and motivated Dentist to join our multidisciplinary team at Cairns Health Centre on a Full time fixed term contaract till 18/12/2026. In this role, you will provide comprehensive dental services and play an important part in maintaining the oral health and operational readiness of Defence members.

About The Cairns Health Centre
Cairns Health Centre is located at HMAS Cairns, on the northern shore of Trinity Inlet and close to the CBD of Cairns. Members mainly conduct border controls and responsibility extending from Rockhampton to Thursday Island, providing maintenance, logistic and administrative support for Cairns fleet-based units.
The base is home to approximately 1000 Navy and civilian personnel providing primary medical, underwater medicine, dental, nursing, and mental health services. The standard operating hours of the centre are generally 0700-1630 Monday – Thursday depending on role requirements, and a half day (5.5 hours) Friday.
What You’ll Do
Deliver preventative and emergency dental care including examinations, restorations and minor oral surgeryPerform procedures such as x-rays, extractions, root canal treatments and prosthodontic managementWork collaboratively with dental, medical and nursing teams to deliver safe, high-quality patient careSupport the oral health and dental readiness of Defence personnel
What You Bring
Current, unrestricted registration as a Dentist (General) with AHPRAMinimum 2 years’ full-time post graduate clinical chair-side experience within the last 5 years (or part-time equivalent)Current First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009) certificationEvidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in line with AHPRA requirementsAustralian Citizenship to obtain the required Baseline Security Clearance
