Role overview

The Welder role exists to deliver high‑quality welding and fabrication services that support the company’s manufacturing and production requirements. The position ensures accurate interpretation of technical drawings, preparation of materials, and operation of workshop machinery to produce components that meet customer specifications and company standards.

Key responsibilities

Fabrication & Welding

- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine welding requirements.
- Perform welding using appropriate techniques (MIG, TIG, arc, oxy‑acetylene) to fabricate and repair metal structures.

Material Preparation

- Select, measure, cut, and prepare metal components for assembly.




- Operate workshop tools and machinery (grinders, cutters, drills) to achieve precise dimensions.

Assembly & Installation

- Align, clamp, and join metal parts to form complete assemblies.
- Conduct fitting and finishing work to ensure structural integrity and compliance with standards.

Quality Assurance

- Inspect welds and finished products for accuracy, strength, and compliance with specifications.
- Identify defects and carry out corrective measures to maintain product quality.

Qualifications and skills

Education & Training

- Completion of a relevant trade qualification (Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade or equivalent).

Experience

- Minimum 1–2 years of practical welding experience in a workshop or industrial setting.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Technical Skills

- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, arc, and oxy‑acetylene welding techniques.
- Competence in metal cutting, grinding, and finishing processes.
