Our modern, specialist orthodontic practice is looking for a Laboratory & Dental Assistant to join our team long term. This is a unique opportunity for someone who loves precision, organisation and digital workflows, while still enjoying being part of a supportive clinical team.
Hours
- Monday to Thursday: 7:45am – 5:15pm
- Friday: 7:45am – 10:45am
About the Role
This is a predominantly laboratory-based position where you'll play a vital role in ensuring our clinical team has everything they need to deliver exceptional patient care. You'll take ownership of our in-house laboratory processes, digital workflows and stock management, while also providing chairside assistance when required.
No two days are exactly the same, but your responsibilities will include:
- Fabricating Essix retainers and other in-house orthodontic appliances
- 3D printing orthodontic models and preparing digital workflows
- Manufacturing indirect bonding trays
- Tracking intraoral scans sent to external laboratories and monitoring appliance turnaround times
- Receiving, checking and organising laboratory work
- Ordering and maintaining clinical and laboratory stock
- Liaising with dental laboratories and supplier representatives
- Maintaining an organised, efficient and well-stocked laboratory
- Assisting chairside during orthodontic appointments as required
- Taking orthodontic records, including digital photographs, intraoral scans and radiographs (where qualified)
- Performing sterilisation procedures and maintaining high infection control standards
- Supporting the clinical team to ensure the practice runs smoothly
About You
We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys organisation, systems and producing high-quality work.
You'll thrive in this role if you:
- Have previous Dental Assisting experience (orthodontic experience is highly regarded but not essential)
- Have exceptional attention to detail and take pride in accuracy
- Love working with systems, checklists and tracking processes
- Are confident managing multiple tasks and staying organised
- Enjoy working independently while remaining a collaborative team player
- Are comfortable spending much of your day in the laboratory
- Have strong computer skills and enjoy working with digital technology and spreadsheets
- Have excellent communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude
- Hold a Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting (preferred but not essential)
