About the role

Western Geotechnical and Laboratory Services is seeking experienced Laboratory Technicians to join our team in a Perth laboratory and FIFO capacity, with a range of exciting opportunities currently available across various locations.

As our rapid growth continues with a strong pipeline of projects requiring our expertise, we are looking to bolster the team at our remote laboratory projects in the Pilbara region and greater WA.

Roster opportunities include 2/1, 2/2 and 3/3. Interstate applicants are encouraged to apply for longer rosters.

For those looking to build a long-term career in the Pilbara, we offer local and relocation packages and the opportunity to be based locally in Karratha, Paraburdoo or Newman.

What you'll be doing

- Perform a range of technical laboratory tests and analyses to support our geotechnical and construction material projects

- Collect, prepare, and test soil and aggregate samples in accordance with relevant Australian/MRWA Standards

- Accurately recording and analysing test data, preparing technical reports, and communicating findings to project stakeholders

- Operate and maintain a variety of laboratory equipment and instrumentation

- Assist with field work, including site inspections and sample collection

- Maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment to ensure the integrity of test results

- Contributing to the continuous improvement of laboratory procedures and protocols

- Collaborating with the wider project team to provide technical expertise and insights

- Adhering to all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations

About You

- NATA Level 2 certification highly regarded for experienced applicants

- Signatory status demonstrated experience reporting to MRWA/Australian Standards highly regarded for experienced applicants

- Proven competency in conducting a wide range of soil testing procedures, such as Atterberg limits, particle size distribution,



and compaction tests (preferred for experienced applications)

- A demonstrated experience or interest in civil construction, science or technology

- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed procedures

- Good written and verbal communication skills

- Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills

- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

- Current driver's license and ability to travel to field sites as required

- A team-oriented approach and the flexibility to work in a dynamic, FIFO environment

- Australian citizenship or permanent residency required
