About the role

We are seeking a friendly and enthusiastic Cafe Assistant to join the team at Grevillea Cottage . This is a full-time position based in Beaufort, VIC 3373. In this role, you will be an essential part of our kitchen and café operations, supporting the day-to-day running of our hospitality service. You will work alongside our kitchen team to prepare food, assist with sandwich preparation, and ensure our guests receive excellent service in a warm and welcoming environment. This position offers the chance to develop your skills in a rapid-paced hospitality setting whilst contributing to the smooth operation of our café.

Key responsibilities

1. Assist with food preparation, including chopping vegetables, portioning ingredients, and assembling dishes according to recipes and standards

2. Support sandwich and salad preparation, ensuring quality presentation and adherence to food hygiene standards

3. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and food preparation areas, including regular sanitisation of work surfaces and equipment

4. Help with stock rotation, checking expiry dates, and reporting on inventory needs to maintain adequate supplies

5. Assist with the washing and organisation of kitchen equipment, utensils, and crockery

6. Support the serving of meals and beverages to guests in a friendly and professional manner

7. Comply with all food safety and health and hygiene regulations at all times

8. Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure efficient service delivery

What we're looking for

1. Previous experience in a kitchen, café or hospitality environment is preferred

2. A strong understanding of food safety, hygiene practices, and allergen awareness

3.



Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment and manage multiple tasks

4. Good communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a team

5. Physical fitness and the ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights

6. Reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude towards work

7. Flexibility with shift patterns, including potential weekend and public holiday work

8. Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation
