Your next step into property development

Perhaps you currently work as a Project Coordinator, Project Administrator, Graduate Engineer, Property Analyst, or Business Coordinator—someone who prepares reports, works with numbers, coordinates stakeholders, and follows through on important actions.

You may already have many of the skills needed to move into property development.

An established property business with a growing Australian portfolio is looking for a Japanese-English bilingual Assistant Project Manager to join its Melbourne team.

Backed by a major Japanese corporate group, the organisation is involved in residential land development and commercial office assets. You will support active projects, work closely with the General Manager and experienced property professionals, and help connect the Australian business with its head office in Japan.

You will not be expected to arrive as a fully developed Project Manager. This is a career-development prospect for someone who is organised, commercially curious, comfortable working with numbers and business documents, and ready to develop practical project management capability.

What might a typical week include?

Reviewing project budgets, milestones, risks, decisions, and outstanding actions

Following up with developers, architects, engineers, contractors, property managers, and other professional advisers

Preparing a project update, presentation, or internal approval document for the General Manager and head office in Japan

Assisting with market research, feasibility information, cash flows, or due diligence for a potential opportunity

Supporting commercial office operations by coordinating meetings, agreed actions, project records, contracts, invoices, payments, and related documentation

You will receive guidance on major project and commercial decisions. As your experience develops, you will gradually take ownership of more complex activities and greater project responsibility.

About you

Following up with different stakeholders comes naturally to you, and you take care when working with numbers, reports, contracts, and business documents.

Property projects interest you — not only the completed development, but also how research, planning, financial analysis, approvals, and stakeholder coordination come together to produce the final result.

To be considered, you will need:

Professional working proficiency in both Japanese and English

The ability to communicate with a head office in Japan through meetings, emails, reports, and business documents

Foundational project management or stakeholder coordination skills

Strong working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint, with strong attention to detail

Full, unrestricted working rights in Australia

Applicants requiring current or future employer sponsorship cannot be considered for this position.

Previous experience in project coordination, property, construction, engineering, finance, consulting, or commercial operations would be advantageous. Direct property development experience is not essential. Exposure to feasibility studies, development budgets, cash-flow analysis, residential land development, or commercial office projects would also be valued.

Experience working in a Japanese, Asian-headquartered, or other large corporate organisation with structured reporting and approval processes would be beneficial.

Could this be you?

This role may suit someone currently working as a:

Project Coordinator Project Administrator Assistant Project Manager Development Assistant Property Coordinator Property Analyst Commercial Analyst Graduate Engineer Graduate Quantity Surveyor Business or Corporate Planning Coordinator

Candidates working in finance or accounting may also be suited if their experience includes property, projects, feasibility, investment analysis, or commercial reporting.

Your current title matters less than the skills you have already developed: accuracy, coordination, numerical confidence, stakeholder communication, and dependable follow-through.

What’s on offer?

Exposure to both residential land development and commercial office assets

Direct, regular contact with the General Manager and senior stakeholders

Practical experience across project coordination, feasibility, and commercial reporting

Regular professional use of Japanese and English

A stable platform for a long-term career in property development

Take the next step

You do not need to be an experienced Project Manager or meet every advantageous criterion.

If you can work professionally in Japanese and English, hold full, unrestricted working rights in Australia, and want to build a long-term career in property development, we would be pleased to hear from you.

Please apply through SEEK with your resume. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and early applications are strongly encouraged.

Shortlisted candidates will receive further confidential information about the organisation, its projects, and the selection process. All applications and enquiries will be handled in strict confidence.
