Procurement Manager - Strategic Projects

Reporting to leadership within Finance & Administration, the Procurement Manager – Strategic Projects provides dedicated, hands‑on procurement support for the delivery of the Strategic Asset Plan (SAP) across a decentralised business environment.

Operating across three key business areas—Generation, Electrical Portfolio/Infrastructure, and Red Energy—this role acts as a collaborative business partner rather than a centralised custodian. You will refine scope, define procurement strategies, manage market engagements, and navigate complex commercial challenges to drive optimised value outcomes.

This is a fixed term 6 month contract.

Key Responsibilities

- Project Procurement Strategy & Scoping: Develop tailored, project‑specific procurement strategies that identify and create value aligned to category plans, project risks, and corporate objectives.
- Tactical Market Engagement & Sourcing: Prepare tender documentation (RFQs, RFPs, ITTs) and manage end‑to‑end sourcing processes including bid evaluation, commercial negotiations, and contract execution.
- Collaborative Stakeholder Enablement: Act as a trusted commercial advisor across generation, electrical infrastructure, and retail software/operations units, embedding yourself in delivery teams to guide processes collaboratively.
- Quality & Strategic Reporting: Maintain meticulous quality control and thorough documentation to produce quick, high‑level Strategic Procurement Assessments under strict Finance & Administration standards.
- Commercial Leadership: Educate project teams on governance,



negotiate commercial terms, and proactively address procurement challenges or process variations.

Location

This role can be based in Sydney, Melbourne, or Cooma.

Qualifications

You are a mature, authentic procurement practitioner with a collaborative, influential approach and a proven track record in complex corporate environments. You know how to operate in a decentralized setting, using influence rather than authority to drive results.

Background: Proven experience within a Top ASX 100 corporate environment (infrastructure, energy, or large-scale commercial sectors preferred).

Experience & Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 5+ years of experience in procurement, including capital project sourcing, complex negotiations, and contract execution.

Core Competencies: Excellent soft skills, high emotional intelligence, and the commercial acumen required to win stakeholder confidence across diverse business units.

Agility & Rigour: Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on detail (e.g., spreadsheet analysis), while maintaining complete accuracy and adhering to governance standards.
