Position Description: Coordinator Aboriginal Strategy

Role Overview
As part of the Aboriginal Communities team you will work closely with internal stakeholders and the wider community to develop, implement and advise on strategies relating to Aboriginal affairs and reconciliation, provide cultural support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees, and enable all staff to create culturally safe environments. You will also implement the Aboriginal Action Plan, support employment pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, and assist the Whittlesea Reconciliation Advisory Group.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and advise on strategies relating to Aboriginal affairs and reconciliation.
- Provide internal cultural support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees and assist all other employees to improve understanding of creating a culturally safe setting.
- Implement the Aboriginal Action Plan.
- Support Council to create employment pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members.
- Support the Whittlesea Reconciliation Advisory Group.
Qualifications
- Strong strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement and project management skills.
- Policy development, communication and governance expertise, and the ability to build and sustain meaningful partnerships.
- Deep commitment to cultural safety, self‑determination and reconciliation, underpinned by integrity, collaboration and accountability.
- Adaptable, proactive and outcomes‑focused, with a genuine respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, communities and perspectives.
