EMPLOYMENT TYPE:
2 x Permanent Full Time 1 x Temporary Full Time - up to 12 months
THE POSITION:
To coordinate the overall operation of the relevant Out Of School Hours Programs (Before School Care, After School Care, Vacation Care) including the education and care of children, liaison with parents, programming, management of staff, budgeting, some aspects of administration, quality assurance and marketing of the Program.
The Out Of School Hours Programs are regulated under Education and Care Services National Regulations under the Education and Care Services National Law.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure a suitable and viable service is provided to meet the needs of the community, in an productive and effective manner.
- Ensure that the Program is accessible to children with additional needs.
- Work Collaboratively across programs within AlburyCity and the Children's Services to ensure regulatory requirements and policies and procedures are consistently implemented at the service.
- Manage OOSH Program staff performance and development, work planning, staff motivation and team development.
- Coordinate the program in line with AlburyCity procurement practices.
- Attend relevant meetings, in service training courses, seminars and conferences to keep informed of current issues in relation to children's services.
- Ensure the confidentiality of parents, children, staff, and the service as a whole, is maintained at all times.
- Ensure all forms/indemnities are kept in accordance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Deliver customer service excellence.
- Ensure a high level and viable service is provided to meet the needs of the community.
- Continuously researching innovative ideas and evaluating the OOSH service and facilitate change as appropriate.
- Report on and action all maintenance, asset and equipment needs and replacements.
- Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
- Based on a 35 hour week, with actual days being Monday to Friday, with an RDO in accordance with AlburyCity's RDO guidelines. Actual hours to be worked 9.30-6pm.
- This position has the opportunity to carry out the role of an Educational Leader on a rotational basis. If required in this capacity the tasks include:
- Providing guidance to other educators in their planning and reflection
- Mentoring colleagues in their implementation practices
- Developing strategies to improve the educational program at their service
- This position may require the employee to be the Nominated Supervisor and/or undertake higher level roles within Children's Services in order to meet service and legislative requirements.
- This position requires you to wear a compulsory uniform as per AlburyCity’s Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely.
- This position requires evidence of vaccination against the following infectious diseases:
- Pertussis (Whooping Cough)
- Measles, Mumps & Rubella (MMR)
- Varicella (Chicken Pox)
- This position involves working both indoor and outdoor, along with computer work. The position requires a moderate level of aerobic and physical fitness to undertake regular physical activities such as walking, lifting, pulling,
pushing along with the capacity to maintain normal manual handling tasks across the workday - depending on the nature of the tasks undertaken. Appropriate WHS standards will be applied for all manual handling activity. A full functional and medical assessment is required for this position.
- This position requires evidence of a current NSW Working with Children Clearance.
- This position requires evidence of a current Australian National Police Check.
- This position is subject to alcohol and other drug testing.
- This position is delegated with certain powers, authorities, duties and functions of Council under the AlburyCity Delegations of Authority in accordance with section 378 of the Local Government Act.
- This position is located at one of AlburyCity's OOSH Programs as determined by the Team Leader and having regard to service demand with occasional/frequent visits to external sites/depots and AlburyCity Administration Building as required.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Minimum Diploma in Child Care Services or equivalent
- NSW Working with Children Clearance
- Current First Aid Certificate (compulsory to have and maintain)
- Current Accredited Emergency Asthma Management Training (compulsory to have and maintain)
- Current Accredited Anaphylaxis Management Training (compulsory to have and maintain)
- Current Australian National Police Check (within 3 months)
- Child Protection
- Complete National Mandatory Child Safety Training prior to starting
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
- Class C (standard) Driver's Licence (compulsory to have and maintain)
- Experience managing a team
PRE-EMPLOYMENT CHECKS:
- Prohibited workers check in NQAITS
- Declaration of prohibition (ACECQA)
EXPERIENCE
- Relevant experience working with school age children
- Demonstrated experience managing/supervising in a children's service setting
SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- The ability to plan, implement and evaluate a quality Before and After School and Vacation Care Program for children aged 5-12 years, ensuring individuals needs are meet
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of National licensing regulations and guidelines, in particular, as they apply to Out Of School Hours Services
- Demonstrated competence in records and fee keeping software as well as Microsoft Office
- Ability to plan and prepare nutritious menus for children
- Understanding and knowledge of, and ability to refer to outside agencies and apply mandatory reporting principles
- A working knowledge of administering Child Care Subsidy
- Thorough knowledge of National Quality Standard and Assessment and Rating process as related to out of school hours care
- Ability to undertake general Centre Management, including security, buildings, safety and hygiene
- Ability to provide and gather information for timely reports as required by AlburyCity and funding bodies
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of curriculum frameworks relating to Out Of School Hours Care - My Time Our Place - MTOP
