As Head Engineer, you will be the senior technical authority for Supply Technology, setting the benchmark for engineering excellence, quality, security, and sustainability across the division. You will influence engineering outcomes at scale by establishing standards, providing independent technical assurance, and guiding major technical decisions across multiple squads. Working closely with senior technology leaders, architects, security stakeholders, and engineering communities, you will ensure solutions are built to a consistent, secure, and maintainable standard. Day to day:

- Define and uphold engineering standards, governance frameworks, and technical decision rights to ensure consistent, secure, and high-quality engineering outcomes across all squads
- Provide independent technical assurance, oversee engineering health metrics, and act as the escalation point for major technical risks, production readiness, and non-functional requirements
- Lead resolution of complex cross-squad technical challenges, major incident investigations, and systemic root-cause analysis to drive continuous improvement
- Shape the division’s technical strategy by guiding technology selection, architectural coherence, and long-term engineering sustainability in partnership with senior technology leaders
- Drive visibility, governance, and prioritisation of technical debt while balancing engineering quality,



resilience, and delivery outcomes
- Mentor and uplift the engineering community, championing capability development, engineering excellence, developer experience, innovation, and secure-by-design practices

You'll be perfect for the role if you have:

- Minimum 10 years in software engineering, with significant time in senior technical leadership (principal engineer, engineering lead, solution architect or CTO-office)
- Demonstrated track record setting engineering standards and lifting quality across multiple teams
- Proven ability to lead and influence engineers without direct line authority
- Deep, hands-on engineering credibility across the full delivery lifecycle
- Experience with technical governance, architecture review, security-by-design and technical risk management.
- Experience leading major-incident technical response and systemic root-cause analysis
- Experience in complex, multi-system enterprise environments; travel or supply-side systems (air, hotel, GDS/NDC) an advantage
