The Freight Forwarder – Ocean Import is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end import process of ocean freight shipments. This includes handling customs clearance, coordinating carrier bookings, tracking cargo, and ensuring timely delivery to the final destination. The role requires collaboration with shipping lines, customs brokers, and trucking partners to guarantee efficient and compliant transport of goods.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the ocean import process from port arrival through final delivery.
- Coordinate with ocean carriers, customs brokers, and trucking companies to ensure on-time delivery.
- Monitor and track shipments, providing timely updates to customers.
- Prepare and submit necessary documentation for customs clearance, such as commercial invoices and bills of lading.
- Ensure full compliance with customs regulations and international trade laws.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers by delivering excellent service.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in freight forwarding, logistics,
or a related field preferred.
- Direct experience in ocean import operations is highly advantageous.
- Proficient in basic calculations related to freight costs and rates.
- Robust organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Capable of working effectively under pressure in a fast-paced workplace.
Industry Knowledge
- Solid understanding of ocean freight procedures and customs regulations.
- Familiarity with international trade compliance and relevant laws.
- Fluent in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with logistics or freight forwarding software is preferred.
